This year I’m joining the Riley Blake Designs 2026 Block of the Month Challenge, and I’m so excited to sew along with everyone. I sold the kits in my shop, but I couldn’t resist participating myself — it’s too fun not to join in.
Last week was a busy one, so today I’m catching up and sharing both Block 1 and Block 2. Double the blocks means double the progress, and I’m loving how this quilt is already taking shape.
✂️ My Tuesday Tradition — Block of the Month Sewing
Every Tuesday, I sit down with my pieces, press a fresh stack of fabric, and work through the next block in the challenge. It’s become a weekly creative reset — a little pocket of time just for stitching, slowing down, and enjoying the process.
Even when life gets hectic (like last week!), this challenge keeps me motivated and inspired.

🧵 Block 1 — Cutting, Piecing, and a Beautiful Start
When searching for quilt design services, consider the following factors to ensure you get the best results:
1. Fabric Pieces Cut
Block 1 is always the most exciting — the colors, the layout, the first peek at how the quilt will feel.

2. Mini Block Sewn Together
This little mini block came together quickly and set the tone for the full block.

3. Finished Block — Front & Back
I love how this one turned out — clean, cheerful, and a great kickoff to the quilt‑along.
🧵 Block 2 — A Fresh Start and a Second Finish
1. Fabric Pieces Cut
Block 2 had a slightly different rhythm, but the colors stayed consistent with my palette for the year.

2. Mini Block Sewn Together
These mini blocks are quickly becoming my favorite part — tiny, tidy, and so satisfying.
3. Finished Block — Front & Back
Two blocks down, ten to go — and I’m loving the direction this quilt is heading.
🌸 Why I’m Loving and Sharing This Journey
The Riley Blake Designs 2026 Block of the Month Challenge brings together quilters from everywhere, all stitching the same pattern in their own unique way. It’s inspiring, motivating, and just plain fun — and even though I sold the kits, I couldn’t resist sewing along myself. Each block feels like a little story, a chance to learn new techniques, touch up old ones, and stay connected to this wonderful RBD community.
This quilt‑along also reminds me of the many great and inspirational quilters I admire. It keeps me learning, staying inspired, and sharing the joy of the process with fellow makers who love quilting just as much as the finish.
If you’re sewing along too, or thinking about jumping in, I’d love to see what you’re working on.
See you next Tuesday for Block 3!
